The examples below are just some of the treatments provided at Parker & Jones Manual Therapy Clinic. The treatment plan that will be tailor-made to your individual preference and requirements may include a variety of the techniques, but will always be accompanied with a detailed description about how you can help yourself to achieve empowerment and control over your body, in order to achieve A Better You!

NEUROMUSCULOSKELETAL

This term basically covers any problem that is associated with the nerves, muscles and bones with in the body, and often a combination of all three!

Using comprehensive clinical reasoning and up-to-date scientific findings our aim is to not only find out what the dysfunction is but how we can use the body to retrain itself.

In addition to joint mobilisation and manipulation of the extremities and spine, our treatment makes use of neurodynamic techniques, muscle stretching, stabilising exercises and specifically adapted exercises that you can do at home.

MANIPULATION

Occasionally it may be beneficial to manipulate the joints to achieve optimal results. This involves a rapid movement at the end of joint range, to facilitate full range of movement. I am qualified to perform such procedures skillfully and effectively.

As with all of our treatments, a detailed explanation of the procedure will be provided to establish whether you consent.

SELF MANAGEMENT

This starts from the very beginning and integrates into all the treatment and beyond. After the comprehensive assessment process, where we will discover how the problem affects you we can start to develop techniques together to reduce the impact on your lifestyle. You will then be fully involved in the treatment process, working together to find ways in which you can build self-treatment into your lifestyle. Throughout and on completion of treatment you will be provided with the means to reduce flare ups and reoccurances

MANUAL THERAPY

As the term “manual therapy” suggests, a “hands-on” approach is taken. The technique allows a problem with the spine, for example, to be mobilised and treated locally and separately. Manual techniques can also be used directly on joints such as the hip, knee and shoulder, allowing movement restrictions and pain to be positively influenced.

Manual therapy should not be painful, during acute phases manual therapy is used to facilitate pain-free movement, whilst in the later phases manual therapy can be used to reduce the stiffness. You as the client are in full control of the treatment at all times

SOFT TISSUE THERAPY

Soft tissue therapy is the manipulation of the soft tissues of the body i.e. muscles, connective tissue/fascia, tendons, ligaments and joints. Soft tissue therapy helps alleviate the soft tissue discomfort associated with everyday and occupational stresses, muscular over-use and many chronic pain conditions.

REHABILITATION

Whatever your goal of treatment I am 100% committed to help you achieve this. Whether your goal is: occupational with liasing with workplaces, workplace assessments and liasing with GP's regarding sicknotes;

sporting with return to sports programs, joint sessions at the gym and training sessions

or just to get back to being A Better You I am here to help

SHOCKWAVE THERAPY

Shockwave is an highly powerful acoustic wave used as a treatment tool to stimulate healing and recovery in chronic soft tissue injueries by inducing an inflammatory-mediated healing process. It is non-surgical non-invasive way to get pain-free fast!

ACUPUNCTURE

Acupuncture is one of the many skills used within physiotherapy as an integrated approach to the management of pain and inflammation and as a means of stimulating the body’s own healing chemicals in order to aid recovery and enhance rehabilitation.(getting better, quicker) This allows other physiotherapy treatments such as exercise, muscle strengthening and rehabilitation to achieve more effective results.

ELECTROTHERAPY

Electrotherapy is the use of machines to promote the bodys own natural healing process.

Some examples are ultrasound therapy and electroacupuncture. Any use of electrotherapy will be used in combination with other therapies in order to facilitate full function.

HOME VISITS

Although we have disabled access and ample parking there may be times when attending the clinic isn't possible. I will be happy to attend you at your home and provide all the above treatments. Please note there may be an extra charge to this for visits outside a four mile radius.
